For Optimum Performance

The powered machines skates have a combination of two different wheel types for optimum performance. The mustard colored JUWAthan wheels have a slightly larger diameter than the black JUWAmid wheels. The weight of the load will compress the elastic mustard colored wheels and provide the traction with the floor. The black material is tough and hard and will not compress. It carries the load weight. The black material is also slick to touch so it allows the skate to turn easily.

All JUNG products are covered under a manufacturer's warranty:

5 Years on all products, except

1 Year on all electrical and pneumatic products and pumps

Coverage

The manufacturer warrants that the products are free from material or workmanship defects, provided they are subject to normal and intended use. The manufacturer may replace the product or may provide replacement parts, in accordance with the provisions of this warranty policy, any of its products during the duration of the warranty, if it is determined that the product has a material or manufacturer defect.

Limitations

The warranty does NOT cover damage resulting from improper use of the equipment, such as overloading, accidents, abuse, or misuse, modification, negligence after purchase, ordinary wear and tear, and/or failure to follow the product’s operating instructions or safety regulations.

Initiating a Claim

In the event of a defect in North America or South America, notify Toolwell of the circumstances in order to obtain warranty instructions. Depending on the nature of the defect, Toolwell will offer at its discretion one of two options:

    1. Replace the defective product. All defective dollies, skates, and jacks must be returned to Toolwell.
    2. Replace the defective part. The defective part may be discarded.
        
Warranty Period

This warranty is valid for five (5) years on all JUNG products from the date of original purchase with the following exception: The warranty is valid for one (1) year from date of purchase on all electric and pneumatic powered products, and pumps.

The manufacturer and the manufacturer's agent neither assumes nor authorizes any other person to assume for it, any liability in connection with the moving equipment or sale thereof, other than expressed herein.

JUNG and Toolwell reserve the right to amend or adapt these warranty conditions with implications for the future at its discretion at any time.
Capacity & Safety Factor
Our advertised load capacity is rated well below the breaking point so the dollies and skates are built to safely operate at full capacity.



Capacity can mean different things so please find below an explanation for your understanding:

  1. Breaking point: At which point will the skates break?
  2. How close to the breaking point is the capacity advertised?
  3. Failure to operate: At which point will the wheels stop rolling & turning?
Safe Working Load Capacity: Our advertised load capacity refers to the maximum amount of weight our dollies and skates are designed to safely carry while maintaining easy rolling and turning. The breaking point and the failure-to-operate point are well above this capacity allowing the dollies and skates to be operated at the maximum rated load weight. NEVER EXCEED this Safe Working Load Capacity.

Safety Capacity: The dollies and skates possess a safety capacity above the advertised load capacity to protect against limited temporary overloading due to impact loading or unexpected shift in weight. Operating the dollies and skates above the rated capacity and within the safety capacity means more effort is needed to roll and the user will notice an increase in rolling resistance. If the safety capacity is maxed out, the wheels will stop rolling and start dragging behind and turning becomes impossible.

Dynamic Load Capacity: The load limit above which the dollies and skates will permanently deform and fail (breaking point) in motion is rated above the Safety Capacity.

Static Load Capacity: The load limit above which the dollies and skates will permanently deform and fail (breaking point) at standstill is rated above the Dynamic Load Capacity.

What exactly does this promise mean?

In our case, it means that our products have been designed, developed, made, and relentlessly improved in Germany for more than 50 years.

Technology

A professional in-house engineering team constantly works to improve our products. We aim to enhance the ease of rolling, durability, and ease of use. This includes making tiny adjustments that may only refine the rolling or lifting friction by 0.1 percent, but these specific modifications accumulate over 50 years and have lead to vastly superior performing products!

We often work on maximizing features that cannot be seen, like heat dissipation of temperature increase during rolling under huge turning forces. All aspects of our dollies, skates, and jacks are analyzed and re-engineered to make the products more efficient. 

Testing

In our in-house testing ground, we test materials, parts, and product prototypes. Every new product is then evaluated by professional machinery movers in order to detect weak points in the prototypes or parts. Any discovered deficits are then fed back to engineering. 

Manufacturing 

Many companies move their production overseas, but JUNG carries on to produce products and components in Germany, and also invests in its manufacturing plant in Germany . We employ robots in the manufacturing to guarantee consistent quality among every single product. Even though other companies nowadays increasingly advertise 'engineered in Germany' - which in fact means built in another place, our products continue to be Made in Germany. 

Precision

This means that every product and component is manufactured to precise dimensions and precise shape. It furthermore means that every product and component is precisely the same. When a product or component is exposed to the extraordinary forces of multiple tons of weight, any variance from the exact sizes could lead to product breakdowns. 

Case in point: If the diameter between balls in bearings differs even a bit, the forces will be unevenly distributed, which will sooner or later lead to failure. Another example: If the structure is warped even by 0.1 %, then under load, it twists, which may in the long run lead to cracks. 

This accuracy can only be attained through state-of-the-art precision manufacturing processes. Low-cost parts can lead to breakdowns, therefore we only employ high-quality components, and each product is exactly the same, and produced to exactly the same production standard. 

Conformance to Safety Principles

Our products are put to the test to meet the most recent U.S. safety standard ASME B30.1. This standard specifies the load bearing valuation and safety capacity demanded by OSHA requirements. JUNG skates are really the only load moving skates in the United States that comply with these specifications. 

All jacks are tested to comply with ANSI B30.1. All skates can just be tested to capacities of 16 tons. Larger sized dollies and skates cannot be tested, but are made to comply with the same or higher safety standards. 

Because of its manufacturing process we can guarantee that each product is identical (and does not vary because it was cut, drilled, and welded by hand). Our products may well be issued with certificates of compliance or certificates of conformity (COC). 

Traceability by Serial Numbers

Every product is marked with a serial number. This identifier is associated with the item's material, components, and manufacturing batches. Every part failure can be tracked back to the production batch to determine the underlying cause. 

This quality assurance program guarantees that deficiencies are wiped out over the years, so that the products get ever closer to absolutely no defects. No other machine skate and toe jack producer has implemented such an advanced quality assurance program.

The Results of Poor Quality

The Results of Poor Quality Similar products sacrifice quality for cost. Copied parts are welded together into a product without any understanding, engineering, R&D and testing capabilities. The cheaper construction may result in frames bending from impact loading or axles snapping under load. Customers may constantly need to replace parts to keep the products in operation. Look-alike products may be advertised at higher capacities by eliminating or reducing safety capacities. Knock-offs claim higher capacity while exerting so much weight onto the same footprint that the wheels will drag behind instead of actually rolling.

Our Definition of Load Capacity

Our definition of Load Capacity goes further than just working safely below the break point: The more weight is exerted onto the skates's footprint, the higher the break-out & rolling resistance becomes until too much weight causes the wheels to drag behind, making changing directions impossible. The maximum capacity at which a wheel still turns is limited by the pressure exerted onto the footprint (aside from the component strength). That means a 2 ton rated wheel may stop turning at 1 ton of weight. Be assured that you maintain “easy rolling” and “easy steering” at maximum capacity with our dollies and skates.

Professional Engineering

All products are designed by JUNG’s full time engineering team. Besides continuous improvements to functionality and strength, the products are optimized beyond what the customer expects. For example: The dollies and skates are designed for heat dissipation to counter possible weakening over time as high temperatures build up from the enormous friction forces. Internal technology is employed to protect against impact loading and design considerations are given to chemical and environmental resistability. German engineering means test and design for every detail.

All products are function tested by JUNG to verify rated load capacity and assure zero defects prior to delivery.

It is a standard requirement to offer a Certificate of Conformity to every customer in the nuclear industry. However, we offer this same certification to commercial customers for a surcharge.

Mechanical Maintenance:
Mechanical components such as wheels, turntables and bearings, are easily changed by the owner. 

Things we do NOT support:
We cannot fix products with body damage. Serious body damage of machine skates can affect the overall integrity of the skate, in many cases replacement should be considered.

Battery Technology & Safety 



Lithium-Ion vs Lithium-Iron 

Traditional Lithium-Ion batteries are still used today in most electric cars and electric bicycles for their range. These standard lithium-ion batteries, however, are prone to overheating and consequently are at risk of catching fire or exploding. 

JUNG EV skates employ Lithium-Iron batteries instead, with a chemical composition of LiFePo4. 

These types of batteries have a much shorter range but provide higher safety. 

Outfitted with Battery Health Monitoring System 

Any battery or any energy source can still present a risk as the batteries turn out up to 58.4V at 60Ah. Consequently, JUNG batteries are outfitted with sensors feeding metrics to an integrated battery health monitoring system. The system monitors for any problems and shuts down the system if any such problem occurs. 

Independent Safety Testing of Jung Batteries 

JUNG batteries have been tested by an independent lab. During the tests, the batteries were exposed to: 

    • Pressure in a vacuum chamber 
    • Hot and freezing temperatures in a climate chamber 
    • Vibration on a vibration exciter 
    • Shock on a vibration exciter 
    • Short circuit conditions 
    • Overloading conditions with twice the current
    • Internal and External Damage
The batteries passed all tests. There was no leakage, no venting, no disassembly, no rupture and no fire during the test. A complete testing report is available by request.

The JUNG Battery-Powered Machine Skate can move heavy duty loads via a wireless controller. These battery-powered machine skates allow maximum safety for the user allowing control at a safe distance. The joysticks on the remote control are pressure sensitive allowing steering and speed changes precise and seamless.

The battery-powered machine skate can handle all types of loads. Operation is however limited to level smooth floors.

Rolls where other fail: Over the last 10+ years, the technology behind JUNG's battery-powered skates has undergone a radical evolution, resulting in today's reliable and mature machine skate system.

360 Maneuverability

With one powered skate under the front of the load, and one under the rear, load can be maneuvered 360 degrees. Requires two operators, one to control each remote control. The rotating dolly will follow the powered machine skates in any direction.

Uses:

  • Battery powered machine skates are ideal for moving machines, equipment, and material from point A to point B during installation, maintenance, and relocation without the need for a towing vehicle.
  • Use for transporting loads on smooth concrete, asphalt, or steel plates.

Features:

  • When used in a standard configuration with a steerable front and straight-line rear skate, the machine skates are freely steerable with the same maneuverability as a car: The front steers while the rear follows.
  • Skates can also drive backwards, using the powered skate on the rear of the load to push from behind.
  • 3-point load moving systems are safer to use than traditional 4-point systems. Skates will not slip out under tugging and pushing forces.

Wheels:

  • Patented JUWAthan wheels (yellow) provide traction for propulsion while JUWAmid wheels (black) add additional load bearing capacity. This combination of wheel types provides the optimum ease of rolling, turning and break-out performance form standstill.
  • Wheels will not damage floors.
  • Fewer large diameter wheels - compared to using a greater number of small wheels - maintains functionality with larger loads.
  • Wheel material has extremely long life and extremely low failure rating.
  • Sealed ball bearings protect against contamination with dirt for both inside and outside use.
  • Reliable under toughest working conditions.

Skate Sizes:

  • Wheel size and overall skate height increases with increased load bearing capacity.
  • This assures consistently low rolling resistance and reduces the risk of point-loading wheels.
  • Larger wheels can bridge larger obstacles and can handle rougher floor conditions.

Battery

  • Lithium-Ion 48 VDC
  • With 110V charger. Battery charges to 100% in 3 - 6 hours depending on the model.
  • ALERT: All lithium ion batteries must be charged periodically when not in use for extended periods (~every 3-4 months). If battery is left to drain below the minimum level, battery cannot be recharged and requires costly replacement.

Construction:

  • Machine skates are built using 4-way steel bending technology with frames that twist under excessive forces to prevent fractures, while maintaining functionality.
  • Materials, including the steel and the wheel materials, are specifically tested and manufactured to gain the highest performance from these skates. We do not use untested garden-variety materials.
  • Factory is ISO certified and uses state-of-the-art production tools including welding robots to assure each product meets consistent quality.
  • Each skate is outfitted with an anti-slip load pad.
Included: 
  • The battery-powered skate ("EP-model) comes with the robot skate, the hook-on battery pack (silver box), the remote control, one charger for the battery pack and one charger for the remote control.  
  • One rotating dolly.

Radio Frequencies (special considerations for security sensitive sites)

  • The remote control communicates via radio frequency. If radio frequency is undesirable, please consider the cable-remote option which disables the transmission.

  • All new products undergo long testing periods in the lab and in the field before release to public.

Parts & Serviceability:

  • Toolwell provides lifetime technical and parts support.
  • The battery-powered machine skates contain mechanical, electrical, software and battery components. All components are modular, including the circuit boards, for ease of replacement. Mechanical components such as the wheels can be replaced by the end user. Video instructions are available. Toolwell offers repair service on any electrical and software components. The battery, remote and chargers can simply be replaced. This provides the customer with piece of mind when considering the long-term investment costs.
