Which Machine Roller for which application?
Use Standard Duty Rollers for short term projects such as Machinery Moving:
Use Heavy Duty Rollers for medium-term projects such as steel erecting, general construction or machine fabrication:
Use Super Duty Rollers for permanantly loaded or long-term loaded loads for projects such as bridge construction, structure repositioning, machine and equipment repositioning, or in marine and offshore applications.
Use Ultra Duty Rollers for loads that roll frequently such as gantry cranes, rotating machinery or container hoisting.

Roller Size affect on Rolling Resistance
Rollers with fewer, larger diameter wheels will roll more easily than those with more, but smaller wheels.

Weather & Corrosion Resistance
The steel components of the rollers will naturally develop surface rust in weather. Minor surface rust does not decrease the performance. Long-term stationary exposure to weather and extreme conditions can degrade the rollers and the following weatherproofing are standard on models KW.

Considerations When Choosing Roller Capacity
Machine Rollers should ideally be used on solid surfaces such as steel, so the weight is equally divided across each load wheel.
When operating 4 machine rollers on uneven surfaces such as concrete, select a roller with double the mathematical roller capacity to safeguard against overloading due to the load rocking and shifting. If operating more than 4 machine rollers, carefully select suitable roller capacity to prevent overloading in case load rocks on uneven surfaces and shifts weight.
SOLID/SMOOTH SURFACE or TRACK
Example: An equally distributed load of 40 tons, translates into 20 tons to be supported on each side
Capacity needed: 10 tons each machine roller
IMPERFECT/TEXTURED SURFACE
If the load rocks on an uneven surface, one roller loses contact with the load and the weight shifts to the closest roller
Capacity needed is doubled: 20 tons each machine roller
Additional Considerations
Side forces such as wind may cause uneven weight distribution on rollers resulting in possible side/ overloading
Consider selecting higher capacity machine rollers to offset the hazards of point-loads, uneven weight distribution, and side forces.
How is “Load Capacity” really rated ?

Coverage
The manufacturer warrants that the products are free from material or workmanship defects, provided they are subject to normal and intended use. The manufacturer may replace the product or may provide replacement parts, in accordance with the provisions of this warranty policy, any of its products during the duration of the warranty, if it is determined that the product has a material or manufacturer defect.
Limitations
The warranty does NOT cover damage resulting from improper use of the equipment, such as overloading, accidents, abuse, or misuse, modification, negligence after purchase, ordinary wear and tear, and/or failure to follow the product’s operating instructions or safety regulations.
Initiating a Claim
In the event of a defect in North America or South America, notify Toolwell of the circumstances in order to obtain warranty instructions. Depending on the nature of the defect, Toolwell will offer at its discretion one of two options:
- Replace the defective product. All defective dollies, skates, and jacks must be returned to Toolwell.
- Replace the defective part. The defective part may be discarded.
Warranty Period
This warranty lasts for one (1) year on all Börkey products from the date of original purchase.

- Individual machine dolly capacities are calculated based on moving the load across a steel surface (all wheels are touching the floor and the load weight is equally divided across the caster footprint). When using 4 (or more) dollies, load may rock on uneven surface, increasing load weight applied to any dolly. Therefore, select suitable rated machinery dolly capacity carefully.
- Börkey Machine Dollies are made to run on a solid strong surface such as steel. Operating the machine dollies with steel wheels across concrete floors – especially repeatedly along the same path - may damage the floor. Machine dollies can also be used on crane rails or steel beams.
- The track or floor surface is vital for the safe transportation of the load, not just the carrying capacity of the machine dolly. Movement on tarmac and concrete is restricted, and the machine dollies should never be used on uncovered tile. For best results on tile, concrete, or tarmac we recommend putting a steel plate of a minimum of 0.4-inch thickness underneath.
- Precautionary measures must be taken for use on inclines to avoid run-away loads!
- When mixing and matching machine dollies (or different load supports), keep the load at same loading height. Otherwise dollies will tip and become point-loaded.
